AutoClip ("we", "us", or "our") operates the autoclip.dev website and related services (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our Service.

1. Information We Collect

Account information: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and profile picture through our authentication provider (Clerk). If you connect social media accounts, we store the OAuth tokens necessary to post on your behalf.

Usage data: We automatically collect information about how you interact with the Service, including pages visited, features used, videos processed, and clips generated.

Video data: When you submit a YouTube URL, we process the video to generate clips. We store metadata about the video (title, duration, URL) and the generated clips. Source videos are temporarily cached during processing and deleted afterward.

Payment information: Payment details are collected and processed by Stripe. We do not store your credit card number or full payment details on our servers.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
  • Process videos and generate clips as requested
  • Post clips to your connected social media accounts
  • Process payments and manage subscriptions
  • Send transactional emails (account confirmations, billing receipts)
  • Monitor for abuse, errors, and security issues
  • Analyze usage patterns to improve the product

3. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the third-party services necessary to operate the Service (listed below) and as required by law. We may share aggregated, anonymized data for analytics purposes.

4. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (TLS), secure authentication, and access controls. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

5. Cookies and Tracking

We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. We also use Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights to understand how the Service is used. These tools collect anonymized usage data and do not use cookies for cross-site tracking.

6. Third-Party Services

We rely on the following third-party services to operate AutoClip:

  • Clerk — Authentication and user management
  • Stripe — Payment processing and subscription billing
  • Convex — Backend database and real-time data infrastructure
  • Google / YouTube API — Video metadata retrieval and channel monitoring
  • Cloudflare R2 — File storage for generated clips
  • Deepgram — Speech-to-text transcription for caption generation
  • Google Gemini — AI analysis for viral moment detection
  • Vercel — Web hosting and analytics
  • Sentry — Error monitoring and performance tracking
  • Modal — Serverless compute for video processing

Each service has its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review them. We only share the minimum data necessary for each service to function.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Export your data in a portable format
  • Opt out of non-essential data collection

8. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Generated clips are stored for the duration of your subscription. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain it.

9. Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
